Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes
During the spring and summer months here in Lawton, people love to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, but nothing will put a damper on your outdoor fun like swarms of hungry mosquitoes. Their bites and the itching that follows can make you completely miserable, and since mosquitoes carry diseases like West Nile Virus, they can also make people very sick.

Mosquito season in Lawton starts in the spring, peaks in the summer and tapers off in the fall. Mosquitoes will not fully go away until the first freeze of the season or when temperatures are constantly below 50 degrees.

To avoid mosquitoes, it is important to stay away from stagnant water. Also, since mosquitoes love to come out at dusk, you might want to wear insect repellant during any late afternoon or early evening activities you might be doing. The most effective sprays on the market have an ingredient called DEET in them, but not everyone can tolerate DEET and it’s not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing or for very young children. Some people also find success by burning citronella candles or tiki torches, but others don’t find citronella to be effective at all.

If you have a mosquito problem, we can help. We use a highly effective spray that will make the mosquitoes leave your yard and not come back, and it’s safe for your family, pets, and plants.
